Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka faces a race against time to be fit to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday, according to a report.
Bukayo Saka was forced to withdraw from Arsenal’s final match against Chelsea due to injury, subsequently withdrawing from international participation with England.
Updates on the player’s fitness have been rare since then, with Mikel Arteta only stating immediately after the match:
“It doesn’t look good because two players (Saka and Rice) of that importance are telling you that they can’t continue in the game, so that’s obviously not good news.”
Still, reports suggest there is at least a chance Saka could be involved against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Saka’s problem is a thigh problem, and he is now in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of this weekend’s match.
The report does not rule out Saka, which is encouraging, but it is obviously not certain that the player is involved.
Saka has scored four goals and assisted seven in 15 games for Arsenal this season, so his contributions have been vital.
But the 23-year-old has already missed two club matches and three international caps through injury, and that figure could rise further in the coming weeks.
