Joe Ralls believes his former Cardiff City captain Sean Morrison has a bright future as a manager – but doesn’t think his playing days are over yet.
Morrison, 33, enjoyed a successful nine-year spell at Cardiff between 2014 and 2023, helping the Bluebirds win promotion to the Premier League in 2018.
The centre-back has been without a club since leaving Rotherham United at the end of last season.
Although he has not yet retired, Morrison has coached Cardiff’s youth teams in an unofficial capacity.
“I think he would be a great coach,” Ralls said. “I think he could still play too. I know he always keeps his options open and works hard, training individually to stay fit.
“I talk to him every day, he’s a great friend of mine. He’ll be excellent in whatever he does. He’s done a bit of [television punditry] also works with Sky.”
Regarding Morrison’s work with Cardiff’s youth teams, Ralls added: “From our point of view, if we had Sean Morrison with the youngsters, helping them in terms of what is expected of them at the club, what is needed to make a career in football, there would be no one better.
“He’s been there and done it at this level. He’s been a great player and captain for this club, so the fact that he’s in the city and if he can be with the young players and help them out this way, then it’s great.
“He’s keeping his options open and there’s always the possibility he could play. Whatever he does, he’ll do well.”
