Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram, according to Italian club Calciomercato.
Thuram reportedly has an €85 million release clause and would demand a significant transfer fee to sanction any move to Anfield, so it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will make a formal offer.
The 27-year-old’s ability to play in multiple attacking positions, including as a center forward, second striker and winger, makes him an attractive option for Arne Slot’s side.
Currently top of the Premier League and Champions League, Liverpool have made a good start to life under their new manager, but remain keen to strengthen their attacking options, especially given the talisman’s uncertain future Mohammed Salah.
The Reds have also been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt striker and Salah’s compatriot Omar Marmoush, who has been in fine form this season.
Liverpool face off in pursuit of Thuram after striker’s latest admission
Thuram was recently in action for France against Italy at San Siro in Sunday’s Nations League encounter between the teams.
Speaking after his side’s 3-1 win, the striker was quoted as saying: “I love this stadium; I love San Siro,” according to Gazzetta.
Thuram, the son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram, has been a key Inter player since arriving from Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2023 as a free agent after scoring 23 goals in 61 matches for the Nerrazurri.
Forming a deadly strike partnership with skipper Lautaro Martinez, Thuram won a Scudetto and a Supercoppa Italia with his current employers, whose quest for back-to-back league crowns did not take off as planned.
Although just one point behind leaders Napoli, Inter sit fourth in the Serie A table as things move ahead of their trip to Marc Antonio Bentegodi to face Hellas Verona on Saturday.
